It's been three years. Three years since I took a step to move on. Three years since stepped on a yoga mat for the first time. Three years since I questioned why I signed up, but decided to keep going.
Three years later, I take time to write here on my blog instead of in my journal that I've been writing in for the past 45 days. A journal that I write in after my daily practice that has had my alarm going off at 5a every morning, even on the weekends. A daily practice that is part of an ongoing homework assignment.
I am currently enrolled in a 200 hour certification class so that I can teach yoga. In addition to an increase in how much I practice, the reading, practicing how I'm going to teach, there is also daily meditation. It is because of this meditation, I'm learning so much about myself. I'm more aware of my surroundings. I pay more attention to my body. I'm more aware of what I put into the universe (which has been a challenge today given the fact Darren Wilson is a free man). My relationship with God is strengthening.
I can go on and on.
One of the biggest signs of the change within me is my current place of employment. A month ago, I returned to a place of employment that I absolutely hated waking up for 2 1/2 years ago and I couldn't be happier.
Growth.
If you had told me three years ago that I'd be studying to be a yoga instructor, I'd think you were crazy; especially after that first downward-facing dog. I would think I'd be a basketball coach (in which I have no interest, believe it or not) before being a yoga instructor.
Yet, here I am.
All because of what I did on this date, three years ago.
Namaste.

30 Day Challenge: #13 Someone you wish could forgive you
Dear ladies,
During my freshman year at BU, alot of jokes were told about you two. I don't know if you guys knew we were talking about your hairstyles (or lack thereof) or the way you dressed...or even heard the nicknames. But I do want to say that I apologize for my actions.
I've seen one of you since I've graduated...even spoke. But you kept it moving, and that's fine. Like I said, I apologize.

Love & Basketball Chronicles: Hate Edition 9.20.10
Hello there, sports fans.
Time for another installment in “The Love & Basketball Chronicles: Hate edition”.
This post is about the "Young Meat". For those who didn’t read my blogpost on what a young meat is, here’s a quick review.
After a two week hiatus due to the basketball courts being closed, the gym is back open. So last week, as I was waiting for my game, I went off to the side to shoot some free throws. Well, this young gentleman, who we’ll call “Young Blood” decides to shoot around with me. No problem. Then, it turns into a series of free throw shooting contests, best out of 5. I’m thinking it’s all good (as in no flirting) because this Y.B. is aware of my age.
I was wrong.
So it gets to the tie breaking shot, and he goes “7-7-3.” I laugh it off like “I know he isn’t tryna ask for my number on the sly.
He was.
And he repeats it again. I wave him off, because I AIN'T GOING!!!
Before we left the gym, he says “You owe me!” I told him I owe him a Gatorade for losing.
Better to restore your electrolytes, rather than have your ego shattered by me NOT giving you my digits.

Tactful Tuesday
Ay!
Stop looking at me like that!
Yeah, I know...it's been a while.
*hangs head in shame*
But today a certain "Thought of The Week" we used to read in h.s. freshman year came to mind and I thought I'd share it with you guys.
If any of my readers had Ms. Sharpe, then you know ALL about this
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts.
It is more important than the past,
the education,
the money,
than circumstances,
than failure,
than successes,
than what other people think or say or do.
It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.
It will make or break a company...
a church...
a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.
We cannot change our past...
we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.
We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have,
and that is our attitude.
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.
And so it is with you...
we are in charge of our Attitudes.”
~Charles R. Swindoll
Have a good one everyone!

"Funny, how time flies when you're having fun..."
Good [insert time of day you're reading this HERE] everyone!
The day thanks and gluttony is almost amongst us!
I'd like to send a big UGH to my co-worker who is on vacay till next Monday! She put up her Christmas decorations, forcing me to look at garland on top of the cubicle wall we share since last Tuesday. She even gave me some left over garland to use on my desk. I threw that ish in BACK of my bottom drawer.
I LOVE the holiday season, but I can politely wait till AFTER Thanksgiving to decorate...
I don't decorate my office space for the holidays anyway, sooo...
Moving along.
I always get this giddy feeling in my tum-tum around this time of the year. Never fails...like clockwork. You have Thanksgiving...official beginning of the holiday season the next day...and some 8-13 days after Thanksgiving...it's my birthday!
But this year it's different. I have this giddy feeling, along with so many memories of what I've done during this 24th* year of my life.
If you know me and have me saved as a friend on facebook....then you already know!!! I definitesly (Yeah, defiNITESly) got it** in this year! January through April, I was gone at LEAST one weekend out the month. I mean, I was gone so much in March, my ComEd bill was under $20.
It was THAT serious.
And if I wasn't out of town, I was getting it** in right cheah in Shick-A-Go.
What's my point?
Time definitely does fly when you're having fun.
And my time is on a space shuttle to the moon, son!
So, I say to you:
My family
4T's & an N
WY Dolphins
BU Braves
OTB
Sorors
Sawrahs (That dayum chapter, Phabulous & Phly)
Krewe of Treachery
and everyone else I've kicked it with***
thanks for joining me on the ride! :-)
K to the...
*I'm going to stop this lie on my birthday...and start a new lie & say I'm 25. Thanks
** I still don't know what "it" is
*** Look, I can kick it and ACK a fool with just about anyone. But because I care, if you want a special shout out, I'll shout you out in the comment section. (You big baby! lol)
